We use "sample source" to represent individual animals and "sample source type" to group animals of one species. We are a high volume lab with a plethora of animal IDs across many species, so inevitably we end up with sample sources with duplicate names (i.e. Animal 2301 was assigned to a moose in 1997, but it was also assigned to a pronghorn in 2022). We only receive and test samples, and are thus not able to alter the names of Animal IDs that were assigned by outside submitters. Currently, FP cannot distinguish sample sources of the same name, even if they have different sample source types. It would be useful to have the ability to differentiate these as a "backup", i.e. perhaps could have the ability to specify Sample Source UID instead, which is a unique number for each sample source. Alternatively, could give FP the ability to first recognize "sample source type", and use this info to only search for "sample sources" within that type.
