Access levels for new groups

A newly created group still has full access to all other objects that are controlled by access permissions, such as sample types, sample source types and user defined fields. It’s a quite tedious task to go through all objects and change -Full access- to -No access- for all objects in the system that the new group should not have access to. For example, a new user will get full access to all UDFs and all Sample Types. If the default permission setting for any new user group were to be --No Access-- instead of --Full-- as it is now, administrating user groups and adding new ones would be much less frustrating and manageable. It is also poses a risk that should the admin miss to change the permission setting of an item, delicate data could be shared with the wrong users.

Not all intended content could be included in FreeerPro 8 as there was a hard release deadline dictated by the OS going out of support at the end of April. An option to bulk edit permissions via CSV has been made available on the legacy API via a patch for some customers. The intention for FreezerPro 8 was to move this to the new REST API and to create a UI to go with it. This content was dropped due to time constraints. If you are interested in in editing permissions in bulk with a CSV file via the legacy API please contact freezerpro.support@azenta.com for this feature patch.

This is very crucial and really annoying for the admin. First I thougt that automatically users within one group can only see their own activities in their group (and other groups with their freezers are automatically hidden), but was very disappointing to learn now that I as admin have to take away access on freezer level. For this I have to know to which group the freezers belong to. Imagine going through the audit report to filter the activity of 100 users to find this out or every time being informed via mail from 100 people that they created new freezers.

This is definitely something I am concerned about.
