Don't automatically select the first value when typing into a drop-down UDF

When typing in the drop-down box of a UDF to add a value (eg. Sample Source UDF) it selects the first value in the UDF box I'm typing in so that I can't type further to narrow down the list of options. Eg. If I wanted to input value 345123 from the list and started typing 345 it would come up with 12345, 13452, 345123 etc and select the first value in that list so then I can't type the rest of the numbers to filter the list further. Could it be changed so that when it searches by what I type, it brings up the list of matching values, but doesn't select one until I choose the one I want.

    I have also had a problem with this. When you start typing a long number, it doesn't wait for you to finish, or continue to refine the search results as you keep typing, it just chooses the first number that matches what you have typed so far.

    It would be useful if the search results could update as you type, then you select the option you want.
