We have a Ziath Plate Scanner and we have configured FreezerPro to scan racks of 96x tubes with it.
We can change the configuration so that FreezerPro is capable of scanning 48x plate groups, but then we won't be able to scan 96x racks with it.
It seems like the issue is that in FreezerPro, you have to define the plate group you want to scan and that is fixed in the configuration. There is no way to say 'scan plate group for 96' or 'scan plate group for 48' with the same scanner connected to the FreezerPro server. This is a limitation of the system which would be great if it could be implemented.
We heard that other FreezerPro customers managed to get it working by using the 'automatic' setting on a plate group and FreezerPro was modified to understand the difference in rack size between a 48 and 96, but we have a cloud version of FreezerPro so we don't know if that's an option for us.
Would it be possible to consider this feature for the next release?
I spoke to tech support about this issue, and one solution that will work with the current version of FreezerPro is to add multiple Ziath scanners with the same IP address, but different configurations. You can change the scanner you are currently using by changing your default scanner under 'Actions'-->'User Preferences' when you want to use the different configurations.
Please let me know if this solves your issue.
